We have been working on building our stamina by reading independently for sustained periods of time. Students have really done an amazing job with
this and are able to read with STAMINA every day! BRAVO, that is how we are going to become better readers each and every day!
We have also been learning and practicing strategies for ensuring that we understand what we read. Currently our focus is in making INFERENCES when we read. Inferring requires that we "read between the lines" to piece together our prior knowledge with clues from the text to make predictions and draw conclusions about what is happening. Here is some important information on reading strategies:

Our weekly word study words are taken from the most commonly misspelled words, high frequency word lists, words commonly misused or misspelled in our writing and from the other subjects we are learning about in school (e.g. Science and Social Studies).
